Nyx 438

Creating an orbital class robot is challenging, as it takes cleverness and skill to balance stability with playfulness. The most prevalent difference amongst them are the unique ways they each behave to outside kinetic stimuli.

Nyx is delightfully and somewhat purposely built to be unapologetically playful. She’s happy to be carefully balanced but is reactive to abrupt posture changes if disturbed. Each orbital bot has small weld dots distributed along the inner ring of their hips, for their upper body to find rest upon. These ‘hip bones’, while somewhat evenly spaced on the inside of her skirt, are rounded and somewhat slippery by choice, and the piece I used for her upper body is heavier than the average orbital class robot’s torso. This makes for some comedic responses if she’s provoked by a bump on a table or even a strong breeze. I find this trait in Nyx to be her most endearing one. For made to order orbital orders, I can cater to suit.

I also chose to make Nyx’s neck as extendable as possible. While there is a stop on the inside of her head to keep her from easily spinning her head all the way around, the extra length allows her to inadvertently exceed human-like constraints from time to time, for extra fun.

Like all my orbital class robots, Nyx is named after an asteroid in our solar system. Her name can be found on the underside of her right foot.
