Juno 434
I made Juno when I had the blues and I decided the best way to cheer myself up was to make something that made me happy. I thought a robot with loose hips could be fun to make, and to play with. Once again, familiar territory was put in my rear-view mirror while I dove headstrong once again into the chaotic lands of experimentation.
The idea of a robot with loose hips is a very whimsical one, but it takes more than a few very careful engineering and balancing tricks to have her be able to stand on her own and be loose at the same time. Once she was made she surprised me with her amazing range of body language, and her ability to seem very much alive when poked. Juno responds in unexpected ways.

But the biggest surprise was the bell chime sounds that she makes when you pick her up and swing her around.
The Pioneer of the Orbital Class
Juno exceeded her mission in giving the creator joy. I love her range of expression and her playfulness, and I’m often surprised how she settles into a pose when I put her down on a table without too much thought. She’s so unique in my designs, I feel like it has taken two decades of metal figure making to reach this level of whimsy. She feels like a little magic trick you can keep in your sweatshirt pocket.
