Juliette p431

Shortly after I announced my art re-emergence to the community I received a commission: a made-to-order poseable robot inspired by sibling Jenavieve p253, who is ten years her elder.

This is the first commissioned piece to bear the new name Laark. She embodies all the new things I have learned in my recent personal renaissance – each body part was fussed over, nothing overlooked.

Possibly the most exciting advancement would be her extremely realistic ranges of poses, specifically the limitations. Her neck stops twisting where a human’s head would typically stop twisting. The ankles twist and point and rock as much as a human’s does, and no more. Juliette can even sit down and cross her legs.

The bronze elements, including the hoop earrings, are fashioned from thick CuSi weld wire, hand bent into rings, welded and shaped with hand tools.

Juliette’s wings can be removed at the end of a long day of jetpacking around the house, making her more compatible for relaxing. The wings can be attached in four different orientations for maximum versatility and fun.

Like all my new work, Juliette took a very long time and a great deal of planning mixed with experimentation. I’m so pleased with how she turned out, and was fortunate to have a patient client to allow me time to photograph and document once the clear coat was dry. It was also great to put her through her paces, making sure her joints were all past the break-in period and tuned nicely. I very much enjoyed the extra time I got to spend with Juliette before she shipped off to her new caretaker in DC.
